Review: Star Wars: Before the Awakening

Star Wars - Before the Awakening CoverStar Wars: Before the Awakening is in the line of Star Wars books leading to the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens. It

This tells the stories of the three main characters of The Force Awakens.

The story of Finn is set during his finally training as FN-2187 before the assault on a small village on Jakku. It tells of his four man training group, FN, that is overseen by the infamous, Captain Phasma.

The story of Rey is set on Jakku as she tries to survive by rebuilding an old starship only to be betrayed by those helping her salvage the parts.

The story of Poe leads him to meet the elder man on Jakku in a small village not far from Niima Outpost. This man has something that is vital to the location of the missing Jedi Master, Luke Skywalker. Both the Resistance and First Order are in search of this information. Leia sends Poe to Jakku to retrieve it. Setting the first scene of The Force Awakens.

It was a very good tale and well written. It is not overly too long like some of the Star Wars novels of the past. This tale gets you into the action not too far froTm the start of the story. It shows us how the Rebel Alliance and Empire thought about the status of Leia Organa.

If you have seen the new movie or not, I recommend this book for the Star Wars fan.

I give it a rating of 5 Dragon Coins

Review: Star Wars: The Weapon of a Jedi

Star Wars - Weapon of a Jedi CoverStar Wars: The Weapon of a Jedi is in the line of Star Wars books leading to the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens. It tells of a story on how Luke goes on a mission to help out some new allies of the Rebel Alliance after the Battle of Yavin, when his Y-Wing breaks down and he needs help.

He runs into a man known as Sarco Plank to go to a forbidden Temple. Luke is drawn to the temple through the force. He knows it is one of the ancient Jedi Temples throughout the galaxy.

Sarco Plank agrees to take him. He has his own agenda.

The story is well written. It is in the vein of the now Star Wars: Legends novel, Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, with Luke gaining abilities in the force. Luke survives his encounter with Sarco Plank (a character seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens). Since, Luke Skywalker was always my favorite character, I was always going to read this book.

I give it a rating of 5 Dragon Coins

Review: Star Wars: Moving Target

Star Wars - Moving Target CoverStar Wars: Moving Target is in the line of Star Wars books leading to the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens. It tells of a story on how the Rebel Alliance gained the shuttle Tydirium used by the Rebels to infiltrate the Sanctuary Moon of Endor in Return of the Jedi.

Leia relays this tale to a rather new and unique protocal droid, PZ-CP0 nicknamed Peazy. This tale, also, involves the Rebel Alliance and Resistance X-Wing Pilot, Niem Numb. This story takes place between Episodes V & VI.

It was a very good tale and well written. It is not overly too long like some of the Star Wars novels of the past. This tale gets you into the action not too far from the start of the story. It shows us how the Rebel Alliance and Empire thought about the status of Leia Organa.
